This was a breaking update, so if you had version 1.0 installed, then you will need to make sure you manually update your channel on your Roku player.
Go to Settings -> System -> System update and click "Check now"
In this release:
The much awaited for and anticipated UK/Ireland feeds! crowd going wild, roses being thrown on the stage...okay, enough day dreaming.
We redid the information that is going to be presented. I'm sure it's not 100%, but 99.9% is probably still pretty good
We're still working on it making it even better. If you have any tips, let us know!
congrats! (i know, i said that already. but that was fast. when it was mentioned that UK/Ireland feed was coming up for the future, i was expecting at least a week if not more. that's how long it usually takes for most places to implement that type of improvement, but this was, what, two days? and be aware, those are Irish roses being thrown on the stage...) i didn't even get a chance to experience the breakage. first thing i do after turning the TV on is update my ROKU system - i like knowing what software is getting updated, and doing it manually is the only way to see what channels update. so, today, saw that Scout updated. checking it out became the second.
now i should go see if i can "break" it, because that's what being beta is all about... (unless you've passed beta, then i'll try anyway, you beta you beta you bet!)
(hijacking this... because a djin without a turban is just some guy...)
We just uploaded version 1.2 (internal code)/1.6 (Roku channel version). <- this is actually kind of confusing, next release will have them matching. Roku only let's you go from 1.0 to 1.5...weird...
Anyway, this should speed things up on all devices as well as fix any flickering issues.
Thanks for reports and keep them rolling in!
@23rdDjin if you could test your XS again, we would really appreciate it!
the left side "menu" jerks out lowly, display is only 7 selections, there's a 20 second+ load time for genres as well as when switching between movies/tv/etc. my sixth or seventh switch ended in a spontaneous restart of the Roku.
i wanted to be here with good news...
strangely, after restarting, the Roku was still on the channel "card" in the menu of my channels rather than in the "Home" column. doubt that makes a lot of difference, but it is bizarre Roku behavior as far as my experience goes.
I think we're on track between the most updated channel within a weeks timespan!
Updated to 1.3
Faster animations for older/less powerful devices (read not Roku 3 )
Faster category loading. We've offset loading information until it's needed. We're going to try to optimize it a little more, but we need to see how this effects devices.
Issues with calling multiple HTTP requests have been squashed. After we call it, we kill it. I'm having a hard time finding documentation on what the specs are for the older players, but I'm thinking we might have to come up with some creative fixes.
Posters not loading? Yeah, sorry about that. We told them if they didn't behave, we'd send them to their room with no food (yes, we're that hardcore)
Thanks for feedback everyone!
