We want to hear from you - what additional features or changes should we make to Scout?
This topic is now pinned. It will appear at the top of its category until it is unpinned by staff for everyone, or by individual users for themselves.
not so much a request as an "i didn't know where to put this" post:
nice tutorial on the new update. i haven't yet taken another look, but is there a way to run through it again? voluntarily, of course, and easy to find. thusly avoiding comments of "get that @#%$&# tutorial off my screen" and "i just clicked through the tutorial too fast. how do i _______." (that one is usually me)
have you changed colors on the app or is it just my brain failing me?
oh. remembered a kind of feature request:
you mentioned how to contact but no mention of the forum. it's getting lonely ...
I know! We just put another link on the Roku forums themselves. We're trying to build up some steam behind this beta, but it's hard! We appreciate you being active on here though!
well, as i said "over there" to whomever is behind 'rarebrds', it's a small way i can show my support consdiering there's absolutely none i could give on the tech end.
just to keep on topic in this thread: any plans on implementing an "add to queue" option? or would that require actually linking one's Netflix account to Scout?
Our initial plans were to have an add to queue option, and we do have a working prototype of it. The problem is that it's not that fast/reliable. If you add to queue, from Scout, then go into Netflix later on, it's not always updated (sometimes you have to exit and reenter NF a few times). We're still working on it though to see if we can make it a good experience.
But, the other issue is that once it's added to your queue, we don't know if it's ever removed. So we couldn't notify you with a way to show that the item is already in your queue or that you've watched it. What we're thinking of actually creating is a universal queue. What this would do is put the queue inside Scout itself, you could then manage your queue from there. This is probably the direction we're going to go with in the end.
universal queue. i like that (and a queue continuum). i've experienced what you've spoken of about it not always showing up in the queue (from a different source). i think that comes down to whether one chooses the log out option on the Netflix app or just chooses the 'home' button and jumps out of Netflix. without logging out, i could come back and find that what i've added from elsewhere hasn't shown up. i can then either choose to completely log out, then back in, and 'whatever' will then show up. there's also a 'reload Netflix' option within the app, but i can't recall if that works or not.
another thing i've noticed, now that Netflix has allowed the creation of different user profiles on the same log in, if you just jump out of Netflix, then choose "add to queue" from a different service, it adds it to whichever profile you were in before exiting Netflix.
what i also like about the universal queue option/plan is when taking into consideration the future and the possibility of Scout being used for more than just Netflix, but that's getting ahead of the game.
Are all feature requests Netflix related? maybe you could include Plex as well?
There are going to be two apps. Scout for Netflix and Scout. Scout for Netflix is solely Netflix because let's be honest, Netflix is the 800 pound white gorilla!
Scout is still being developed and will include other providers. But, a lot of feature requests can be shared between them. You can mark them down here or start up a new thread to discuss in detail something you would like to see.
Anyway...onto your question: Plex is a different application that reads off of the Plex Server. Are you saying you would like to see something like Plex built into Scout or just that we can show your "Recent additions" or "On deck" along side other providers?
I am looking forward to the Scout regular. I use Amazon Prime and PLEX daily as well as Netflix. (I love the Netflix app. So far it has performed flawlessly on my Roku 3. Thanks!
Ok, took her for a spin last night and noticed one thing I'd like straight away, when I select a TV show or movie, it would be nice if I go add it to my list as an option as well as just play it.
I was going through all the content that Netflix doesnt usually show me, and I had to keep watching a bit in Scout, coming out, going back into my viewed list and selecting add to my list in there. A bit clunky.
they're working on that (7th post from the top in this thread http://forums.scout.watch/t/feature-requests-for-scout/19/7?u=23rddjin )
just thought i'd link you as they may have gone to bed (finally!)
Here's a feature that would be amazing. The ability to sort by audio tracks and/or language(s) available. Let's say I want to find all the films on Netflix Canada that have a french audio track or all the films that are in 5.1, etc...
Thanks for the app!
EDIT: Just found out Netflix Canada is not supported... Keep us up-to-date when this is available
It would be nice to be able to search.
I think what he might be asking for is one UI to rule them all (at least for integrating titles).
At the very least, I would like to be able to import my list/queue (from my profile) from netflix. Better yet they stay in sync.
I would also like to see the watch list grouped like the movies are grouped.
Multiple profile support would be nice too. Either using netflix profiles or new scout profiles.
